Mendocino County Art Association is a non-profit organization with over fifty years of creative existence.

Our objectives are to create a community where anyone may join in our goals to create wider appreciation in the Creative Arts. We want to increase our member's access to, and knowledge of, local,  regional, and national classes, exhibits, and opportunities.

Any individual may join our group by paying annual dues of $20. Junior memberships (ages 12-18) are $10 annually.

We meet the third Saturday of the month from 10:30 A.M. until 3:30  P.M. at the Grace Hudson Museum Community Room, 431 South Main Street, Ukiah, CA (Mailing Address is: P.O. Box 517, Ukiah, CA 95482).

We have demonstrations, workshops, shows  and bus trips to museum exhibits. We also have an extensive Video Library free to members.

Meeting and Classes for 2008
(All classes start promptly at 10:30 unless other wise noted. Please come in time to register and set up.)
 
March 15: Patricia Martin Osborne will teach us to try new and different techniques and mediums. There are no rules in this class! Come prepared to play and create 
 
April 19: George O'Hanlon from Natural Pigments went in search of the nearly lost art of paintmaking. He spent time apprenticed to masters in Russia. George will be teaching us about pigments and their properties. Be prepared to make paint like the artists of the past. Bring small containers to take the paint you make home to experience it fully. May 17:.Popular Instructor, Susan Adams, will try to help you find your muse. Learning to let go has helped Susan unleash her creativity and create better art. Susan will teach us how she learned to get in touch with the muse.

August 16: Shirley Schrank was a nurse in her former profession. Now she sculpts the human body with the same tender care. Shirley comes to teach us to sculpt the female face. This will be valuable for anyone who paints portraits. Shirley will bring everything for a different lesson. Since Shirley has a home on the coast, she is a "Mendocino County Artist" as well.
 
September 20: Katrina Small is a fine artist from Sonoma County and she will give us valuable tips on how to capture the “state of being” or “presence” in portraits. Katrina primarily paints with pastels, watercolor and oil, and once worked at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, Texas, where she painted portraits on demand! Katrina also works as a graphic and web designer and enjoys plein air painting.


October 18: George O'Hanlon returns to teach us the nearly forgotten art of egg tempera, casien, and fresco.Again experience what it is like being an artist in the fullest sense. It will make you look at artwork of yesteryears with a whole new respect! Get ready to make paint! bring small containers for your paint samples. November 18: Our annual Member Meeting, Pot luck, and "Show and Tell".  Members bring a dish to share and if desired, a painting or two to share. We will discuss our accomplishments of 2008 and desires for 2009. Informal and fun, this popular event  draws out most members. We also will nominate and elect officers for the new year, so please let us hear your voice!
 
December 11:(Date not yet confirmed) Christmas Luncheon, and Installation of 2009 Officers. Details to follow later in the year..
